Ida Harkness, Rotary Scholarship Winner

Cambridge Sunrise Rotarians were thrilled to congratulate this year's Sunrise Rotary Scholarship Winner, Ida Harkness.
Ida joined the Sunrise Rotarians for the March 3rd meeting, and quickly proved why she is yet another incredible example of what today’s youth are capable of.

In addition to being an honour-roll student, Ida has been a leader for Southwood Secondary's Social Justice Club and a team leader for the Inside Ride (a Fundraiser for children living with Cancer). Ida has also been involved with Southwood’s Best Buddies program, where students act as mentors and friends to special needs students. Ida has also been a member of the Girls’ Varsity Basketball team, the swim team, the cross country team and has participated in the County Triathlon every year since her grade 9 year.

On a larger scale Ida has also contributed globally. Ida has been involved with two volunteer trips, one to Kenya helping with building a school project, and another trip to Equador. Ida was responsible for fundraising the amount needed for her to travel to these destinations to work on these special projects. Finally, Ida has also worked towards earning her SHSM in the Environment. Clearly Ida is dedicated to herself, her communities and her world around her.

Congratulation Ida! Well done.
