The Blades Special Hockey Team

Rotary Cambridge Sunrise welcomed Paul Saunders who presented on behalf of The Blades Special Hockey Team. Paul is a broker at Royal LePage Crown Realty who volunteers his time and energy for the incredible players and families of Blades here in Cambridge.

The BLADES is a co-ed team for individuals ages 6 and up and who, because of their disability, would not be able to play in a regular hockey program. The players may be living with ADHD, Autism or any other disability. They are a mixed team and play with other mixed teams within the Special Hockey International affiliation. The Blades team was formed in 2012. This year, they have 20 players and 14 volunteers. The youngest member is 8 and the oldest member is 28, all of whom are developmentally or physically challenged.

The Rotary Club of Cambridge Sunrise was very happy to present Paul with a donation to the Bursary Fund for players whose families cannot independently finance the league registration fees.

The Cambridge Blades play locally and abroad, as far as London, England. On February 18th of this year, the Blades hosted the Robbie Allen Friendship Tournament at the Cambridge Sports Park.
